The Story of
The Canoe Club

This is the beginning of a story about four couples, one island, a ferry, and a beautiful old barn. What started as a shared longing for a place of beauty and tranquility led these friends to the enchanting shores of Daufuskie Island. Each visit brought them closer to the Lowcountry’s quiet magic; its moss-draped trees, peaceful waterways, and the unmistakable sense that time moves differently here.
Their mutual love for Daufuskie soon grew into a lasting bond of friendship, strengthened by countless ferry rides, sunset gatherings, and a shared vision of what this island could offer to others. Together, they imagined creating a place where people could slow down, celebrate, and be fully present. A place rooted in the island’s history yet open to new memories. A place that felt like Daufuskie itself: warm, welcoming, and unforgettable.
With that vision, The Canoe Club was born in 2023. Created as a haven for those seeking to experience the island’s magic, it stands today as an invitation to gather, celebrate, and honor life’s most meaningful moments. Whether for a wedding, a family milestone, or a simple gathering of friends, The Canoe Club exists to help others create memories that will last long after the tides have shifted.
